The Kannadi Perumal Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is a small temple situated on a hillock approximately 8 km south of Palani Hill Temple, a small diversion from the highway to Kodaikanal. The name of the temple is derived from its tradition that the presiding deity of the temple wards off the effects of ‘dhrishti’, a Sanskritic term which may be held to mean ‘casting an evil eye’.

Also there is another view that the name is derived from a group of Kannada people who worshiped the Lord and became popular as Kannada Perumal, with passage of time known as Kannadi Perumal Temple.


The kannadi perumal temple, which is located approximately 15 minutes of travel distances from the palani bus terminus, from palani there is some local bus facilities available in that root an hourly basis with the board name Thekkanthottam. If you are not unable catch on time,  There is also some alternative is available, some superfast bus headed to kodaikanal shall consider to pick up you and drop you some where near that temple way bus stop. The dropping point of place name is  Annanagar, which is exactly on the edge of kodaikanal hills road.


In case, if you are planning your trip through own vehicle, you have to catch the palani hills south side road of kodaikanal highways, which is exactly located on the back side of the palani hills and city.


Once you placed Annanagar, go ahead of it , there is a bridge comes along with another path on the right side, the bridge, which is the standard land mark for the temple’s path.  By following the small mud road you can see a pool in your left side and on your right there is full of greenery agri lands along with the palani hill temple. Once you reach there you can find the Kannadi perumal temple hills on your straight view.


There is no climbing foot path steps at the temple hill, you have to safely climb the hill with the right place to reach safely the temple.
